The jaba and the aparajita are of different varieties and colors. The gandharaj and the hasnahena give out a sweet smell at night. The hasnahena charms the whole atmosphere. It is said that even snakes are attracted by the heavy smell of hasnahena. Along with these country flowers, many English flowers also grow in Bangladesh. They are daffodils, primroses, zenia etc.
Use of flowers: Flowers are used in different functions as symbols of beauty. Bouquets of flowers are given to our beloved. We garland our national leaders and foreign visitors with bouquets of flowers. Bees collect honey from flowers. Rose-water and otto are made from the petals of roses.

কিছু সাধারণ ফুল: বাংলাদেশ সুগন্ধি ফুলের দেশ। সৌন্দর্য ও সুগন্ধের ক্ষেত্রে গোলাপ সবার আগে আসে। একে ফুলের রানী বলা হয়। বেলি, জুঁই, চামেলী, চম্পা ও গন্ধরাজের মিষ্টি গন্ধ আছে। কৃষ্ণচূড়া, কদম, করবী, পলাশ ইত্যাদি সবই গন্ধহীন ফুল। জবা ও অপরাজিতা বিভিন্ন জাতের ও রঙের হয়ে থাকে। গন্ধরাজ ও হাসনাহেনা রাতে মিষ্টি গন্ধ বের করে। হাসনাহেনা মুগ্ধ করে পুরো পরিবেশ। কথিত আছে, হাসনাহেনার তীব্র গন্ধে সাপও আকৃষ্ট হয়। এসব দেশের ফুলের পাশাপাশি বাংলাদেশেও অনেক ইংরেজি ফুল জন্মে। তারা ড্যাফোডিল, প্রাইমরোজ, জেনিয়া ইত্যাদি।
ফুলের ব্যবহার: সৌন্দর্যের প্রতীক হিসেবে ফুল বিভিন্ন কাজে ব্যবহৃত হয়। আমাদের প্রিয়জনকে ফুলের তোড়া দেওয়া হয়। আমরা আমাদের জাতীয় নেতা এবং বিদেশী দর্শনার্থীদের ফুলের তোড়া দিয়ে বরণ করি। মৌমাছিরা ফুল থেকে মধু সংগ্রহ করে। গোলাপজল এবং অটো গোলাপের পাপড়ি থেকে তৈরি করা হয়।
