Truthfulness is the habit of telling the truth. It avoids telling what is not true. It is a great virtue. A truthful man is true in all respects. He is true in thought, in word and deeds. He is respected and trusted by all. People can rely upon him. A truthful man is not afraid of anyone. He has strength of mind. We should bear in mind that truth stands at last.
Falsehood always leads to danger. A lie may succeed once of twice. But it will come out once. It will then bring disgrace upon the man who tells a lie. He who tells a lie needs many more lies to support it. He passes his life in anxiety. He is always afraid of being caught. So, he loses the peace of mind. The story of the liar cowboy and the wolf is a good example of telling lie. The wolf had taken away the life of the boy for telling lies.
We should learn to be truthful from our infancy. All virtues creates from truthfulness.
Our beloved Prophet Mohammad (sm) was loved even by his enemies for his truthfulness. Hazrat Abdul Kadir Jilany (R) taught an ideal lesson to the leader of robbers. Actual great men are those who speak the truth. Truthfulness purifies the mind. A truthful man never suffers from misery and misfortune.
If the habit of telling lies is formed once, it cannot be shaken off. Without truth, a society cannot exist. History tells us so. Money and gold cannot save a nation, but if the people are truthful and honest, they can save a nation. So, we should be truthful.

সত্যবাদিতা হল সত্য বলার অভ্যাস। যা সত্য নয় তা বলা এড়িয়ে যায়। এটি একটি মহৎ গুণ। একজন সত্যবাদী মানুষ সব ক্ষেত্রেই সত্য। চিন্তায়, কথায় ও কাজে তিনি সত্য। তিনি সকলের কাছে সম্মানিত ও বিশ্বস্ত। মানুষ তার উপর ভরসা করতে পারে। একজন সত্যবাদী মানুষ কাউকে ভয় পায় না। তার মনের শক্তি আছে। আমাদের মনে রাখা উচিত যে সত্য শেষ পর্যন্ত দাঁড়ায়।
মিথ্যা সবসময় বিপদ ডেকে আনে। একটি মিথ্যা দুইবার সফল হতে পারে। তবে একবার বেরিয়ে আসবে। এটি তখন মিথ্যা কথা বলে তার জন্য অপমান বয়ে আনবে। যে মিথ্যা বলে তাকে সমর্থন করার জন্য আরও অনেক মিথ্যার প্রয়োজন হয়। দুশ্চিন্তায় তার জীবন কাটে। সে সব সময় ধরা পড়ার ভয়ে থাকে। তাই সে মানসিক শান্তি হারিয়ে ফেলে। মিথ্যাবাদী রাখাল বালক এবং নেকড়ে গল্পটি মিথ্যা বলার একটি ভাল উদাহরণ। মিথ্যা কথা বলার অপরাধে ছেলেটির জীবন কেড়ে নিয়েছিল নেকড়ে।
আমাদের শৈশব থেকেই সত্যবাদী হতে শেখা উচিত। সত্যবাদিতা থেকে সকল গুণ সৃষ্টি হয়।
আমাদের প্রিয় নবী মুহাম্মাদ (ছাঃ)-কে তাঁর সত্যবাদিতার জন্য শত্রুরাও ভালোবাসতেন। হজরত আবদুল কাদির জিলানী (রা.) ডাকাতদের নেতাকে একটি আদর্শ শিক্ষা দিয়েছিলেন। প্রকৃত মহাপুরুষ তারাই যারা সত্য কথা বলেন। সত্যবাদিতা মনকে পরিশুদ্ধ করে। একজন সত্যবাদী মানুষ কখনো দুঃখ-দুর্দশার শিকার হয় না।
মিথ্যা বলার অভ্যাস একবার তৈরি হয়ে গেলে তা ঝেড়ে ফেলা যায় না। সত্য ছাড়া একটি সমাজ থাকতে পারে না। ইতিহাস আমাদের তাই বলে। টাকা এবং সোনা একটি জাতিকে বাঁচাতে পারে না, কিন্তু জনগণ যদি সত্যবাদী এবং সৎ হয় তবে তারা একটি জাতিকে বাঁচাতে পারে। সুতরাং, আমাদের সত্যবাদী হওয়া উচিত।
